Change in Season

Hi all! Well the weather in Australia has shifted from those nice balmy days to the crispy air that fall brings with it. I’m actually happy about this shift though, because I do quite like autumn, and there’s also something about a difference in season that is always so refreshing. It’s almost like you can feel the world changing around you, gearing up for whatever season they’re about to go through. For me, this involves bringing out the electric blanket and crockpot out of storage (and of course going through my Pinterest page to refresh my memory of all those warm belly filling recipes), and also digging up all those cosy sweaters I packed away months ago. It’s always a little strange to me when my friends back home are preparing for bikinis and sunshine, while I’m getting ready to hunker down and hibernate for a few months! Anyhow, this sweater is one that I will be wearing quite consistently over this winter period. It is such a pretty pastel, and thick enough to get me through the colder days. It was on sale too, bonus!

Girls Night

Hi dolls! Sorry I haven’t posted in a little while, life caught up to me there for a second! I’ve been pretty homesick this past month, and time just seems to fly by when you’re ducking your head down trying to get through. Most of the time I’ll be completely fine, but once in awhile it just tends to wham you right in the chest when you’re not looking. The only thing that seems to help is eating lots of ice cream and powering through a few books to take the mind away somewhere else. And of course, drinking wine and hanging out with friends helps lots too 🙂 So to help remedy the current situation, a girls night was planned, which included dressing up and dinner + cocktails. I even did my hair! Don’t judge, lately all I’ve been doing with this tangley mass is ponies and braids.. just simply washing it is a feat itself! Anyway, thought I’d share a few quick snaps of my night out look. 4. I seriously think I have arachnophobia. Even just typing that word gives me the shivers! I once got chased by my brother in law with what I thought was a live spider and burst out into tears. (And I was 24 lol)

5. Just posted about this yesterday, but I’m a slight germ freak.. and have to have hand sanitizer with me at all times!

6. I can be quite stubborn. My mom once forbade me to cut my hair before senior pictures.. from which point I marched straight to the salon and chopped it all off. (Irony at it’s finest, because my mom ended up loving it and I hated it!)

7. I am a huge animal lover! It’s a weird goal of mine to have little land with goats and mini pigs with silkie chickens to take care of.

Basics

Hi dolls! How were your holidays? Ours have been very relaxing. It’s been the type of break where all of the days blur together, and you forget whether it’s Monday or Friday. Which is a wonderfully nice change of pace.

Moving on, I hit the Boxing Day sales the other day, and scored some nice items! I got my butt out of bed early, and with a cappuccino in hand, braved the masses in Zara, Lush, along with a few other stores. After clearing out my closet when I started blogging, I only look for basic pieces that I can use to create a myriad of looks. Beige and grey are new favourites of mine, so when I saw these shoes I thought they would slot into my wardrobe nicely. Oh and also this purse has been used pretty much all day every day! Booties + Black denim

Hi loves!! So today our holidays officially kick in after 5pm, and I couldn’t be more stoked! It’s been a helluva long year, so this break is mostly a necessity to prevent insanity at this point. Plus, if you saw my Instagram page the other day, we’re heading off to Bali! I’ve always wanted to go, and since our Christmas plans didn’t work out I just figured why not?? So, I’m gonna soak up some rays and time off like a champ.

Anyway, it’s getting slightly warmer, so I decided to throw on the good ‘ol black jeans and boots combo one last time to top off the work year. I’m also getting quite lazy at doing my hair because it’s gotten so long, and I unfortunately don’t have that gorgeous texture that I can just go to bed and wake up with lovely waves, it’s more like limp crimps here and there all over my head. SO a high ponytail has been my best friend for the past few months. Before I lop it all off that is. Hope you like the look loves!

Turtleneck Tank

Hi dolls! Well the weather in Canberra has been quite crazed as of late, with thunderstorms morning/night paired with somewhat sunny humid afternoons. Enter: the perfect top for such occasion. When I found these shirts on sale at The Iconic online (I know, again) I thought they were a good bargain. After testing the waters and ordering the white color, I promptly went back while browsing Christmas presents and ordered a couple more for good measure. I told you guys.. when I like something, I really stock up! They’ve come quite in handy as well, what with the delay in summer going on right now. Not to fear, when you have good clothes, you can deal with such plights. Oh and I also popped a selfie in, just because I’m digging this Savvy Cosmetics matte lip colour right now.

In other news, I have some hopeful advice to ask of my lovely readers. Our Christmas plans have been foiled, so hubby and I were thinking of making a spontaneous trip to Bali. It’s actually pretty reasonable in price to travel from Australia. Have any of you been, and can you recommend anywhere in specific??

Polka Dots + Pointed Flats

Hi loves! Is it just me that’s doing quite a bit of Christmas shopping lately online? I almost feel like I’m cheating a little, like saving the effort of personally going out to get something is neglecting my gifting duties? It’s almost too good to care though, since it’s basically put at my doorstep, and wrapping is the only thing left to do 🙂 So while doing this negligent shopping online, I stumbled across these flared beauties. It’s really hard for me to find pants that fit my waist and height without any tailoring involved, so these were quite a steal in my book. I love this polka dotted shirt, so tucking it into these navy blues was a simple pairing, and adding these pretty pink toed shoes tops the look off and helps to add that touch of professionalism. Ray Charles

Hi guys! I was trying to think of a good introduction for this post, but couldn’t.. so I’ll just get straight into it 🙂 Being the music lover that I am, when I saw this graphic print Ray Charles tee at Forever 21 I nabbed it right up. I grew up playing and listening to lots of music, so I have a healthy dose of creative respect for an artist that can write or play with skill. Ray Charles may have had a few personal issues, but I don’t think many would argue that he wasn’t a musical genius. So I took this tee (along with it’s admiration) and added a red lip, a slit, and leopard print. Hope you enjoy lovelies!

Feeling Frilly

Hi loves! Today is a very happy day, because a portion of our partner visa finally got approved! Woohoo! We have been through so much stress and turmoil throughout this process, that it’s such a relief to be halfway there. For those of you that don’t know, I met my husband almost four years ago. We met in Canada at a hostel New Year’s Eve (romantic haha). I went to visit once, then packed up two stuicases and moved over six months later not knowing a soul except my Matt. My family pretty much had a heart attack when I told them I was leaving, but now they all love him as much as I do and see why I ran away to the other side of the world! We were finally able to get everyone together and have a wedding last year in Seattle (my hometown.) I wrote a post about it on our one year anniversary, which you can read here.

Anyway, on to what I’m actually supposed to be writing about. I wore this outfit to brunch with friends a few weeks ago; since it’s getting so warm this delicate tank top was paired with my new favorite lace up wedges and ripped jeans to toughen it up a bit. After coming out of the layers of winter, it’s so nice to have bare arms! Even though everyone else is in winter, what are some of your favourite summer staples?

Face Mask-ing

Hi loves! So last night I was applying one of my favourite face masks (Glamglow – pictured above), and thought to jot down a quick post about the best ways to do so. I like to do a weekly facial routine, if not twice a week! It’s either something I like to do to pamper a little bit, or to make myself feel better after a rotten day. If my husband comes home and I have a face mask on, wine in hand, and Sex in the City playing he knows I’m probably not happy! Anyway this is the routine I religiously follow beforehand. I usually take showers at night, which also helps with the application since my skin is nice and warm, which makes it even more receptive to soak up all the goodness from the mask.
